-Comments:
The aim of this trial was to compare aerial application rates of 25 L/ha and 50 L/ha vs windrowed Canola.

The Pod-Ceal was applied by air with both water rates, but when harvested, the contractor did not differentiate between the 2 water rates. A fluorescent dye was added to the tank so coverage assessments could be made at night. Thorough coverage of the pods and ground was evident in both water rates.

The Pod-Ceal treatment (700 m L/ha) increased yield by 18.8% over the untreated windrowed Canola. The 1.9 T/ha was the average yield across the Pod-Ceal treated area, applied by air at 25 L/ha and 50 L/ha. You can deduct from this that the lower water rate of 25 L/ha increased yield over the windrowed, suggesting adequate coverage of the pods.

The harvest date was delayed due to inclement weather, but was easily harvested as the pods dried rapidly. The oil content was identical between the windrowed and direct harvested Canola. The windrowed Canola was harvested 4 weeks earlier than the direct harvested Canola.
